The staff nurse provides specialized care, education and advocacy to patients and their families, as well as referrals to other caregivers on the team.

In order to provide excellence in care for Burns & Plastics Unit trauma patients, our nursing staff is provided extensive orientation and continuing education opportunities through workshops, journals and networking opportunities.

During weekly rounds, we provide specialized information and problem-solving input to various multidisciplinary team members to ensure the patients' physical and psychological needs are being addressed on an individualized basis.

Nursing team members are also involved in volunteer and special interest groups, providing education and awareness information within the hospital and community.

Outpatients Coordinator

As a primary nurse in the Outpatient Department, Marlys Judiesch coordinates the efficient operation of the Burns & Plastics Unit along with the Patient Service Manager. Daily functions include organization of the significant clinic and referred patient population for assessment by specialized Burns & Plastics medical staff. In addition, Marlys liaisons with other clinic personnel to manage appropriate patient analysis including bloodwork, radiology, physiotherapy and occupational therapy.
