From Wound to Wellness

Welcome to the B.C. Professional Firefighters' Burn, Plastic & Trauma Unit at Vancouver General Hospital - a site of the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority.

The goal of our Team is to help patients and communities understand the journey from wounds to wellness through holistic treatment and educational and emotional support.

Our Unit provides a unique high acuity for burns, traumatic plastic surgery & multisystem trauma encompassing a wide range or services to promote specialised healing.

The BC Professional Firefighter’s Burn, Plastic & Trauma Unit known as BPTU is located on the 2nd floor of the Vancouver General Hospital's Jim Pattison Pavilion.  BPTU has 16 monitored high acuity beds in addition to 8 ward beds with wound treatment facilities specifically focused toward wound care, as well as a fully equipped occupational and physiotherapy facility to begin mobilization and rehabilitation.

We have a Healing Garden on our patio for relaxation and enjoyment of patients and families. There is also a well appointed lounge area for our visiting families who often travel from many parts of the Province.

From the Patient & Visitor Lounge our patients and families can enter the Healing Garden on our patio with a Memorial Fountain for patients and families from the nearby ICU & our unit to enjoy.
